Color Fundamentals: Understanding RGB, CMYK + Pantone [Skillshare Class]

Color Fundamentals: Understanding RGB, CMYK + Pantone

I am so happy to announce the publication of my third Skillshare class!

This won’t be a superficial class that says use RGB for digital and CMYK for print. The approach will be a very specific one. We will dive in to really understanding the “reason why” behind the science of it all.

You will then use these skills to create your own color palette and identify each one of the colors with their respective values in RGB, CMYK and Pantone. That way you can use the same color no matter what color mode or system you are using.

Color Palette in RGB, CMYK and Pantone

In this class you will learn:

  • What is hue, saturation and value.

  • How to create tints, tones and shades.

  • The relationship between light and color.

  • The relationship between RGB and CMYK.

  • The differences between CMYK and Pantone.

  • Which Pantone color book to get for your project.

  • How to create your own color palette combinations and set the values in RGB, CMYK + Pantone.

  • How to use Pantone Connect inside Adobe Illustrator.

Watch the class introduction here:

By the end of this class, you will be able to communicate properly when speaking about color. And you will be able to have color consistency in your work. This is the class I would have wanted to take when I started designing more than 10 years ago. I know it will be a solid base to build all your projects.
